Book Review #204: Dead Men Tell Tales by Dr. B. Umadathan

Author: Dr. B. Umadathan

Genre: Memoir

Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

This book is a memoir of a Police Surgeon Dr. B. Umadathan who has shared about the cases he handled throughout his career and the experiences he had in the field of Forensic Surgery. These cases varies from suicide to murder to few bizarre situations that will take you on a thrilling ride for sure.

Dr. Umadathan shares about his life journey from his college days to his personal life and his career. This book shows how crucial are forensic experts in case of crime detection especially to find out the real reason behind the death of any person and what all situations they have to undergo for being honest to their profession.

Although this is a memoir, the cases discussed in the book are real cases and are spine chilling. He has shared various cases right from the small case he assisted during his practising to the most challenging cases of his career. These will surely keep you on the edge of your seats and will keep you in anticipation to know more about each death.

Originally written in Malayalam this book is translated by Priya K. Nair and this is truly one of the best translated works I have read so far. You don't need to be a forensics expert to understand the cases because the author and the translator have done their job brilliantly in explaining the medical terms and procedures. I absolutely loved this book.

Thank you Harper Collins for the review copy in exchange for an honest review.
