Book Review #203: Linger When You're Gone by Chitra Padmana

Author: Chitra Padmana

Genre: Romantic Psychological Thriller

Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

This book is a psychological thriller with a flicker of Romance into it. The story revolves around Miris who has an exceptional ability where her sense of smell is extreme compared to others. This ability has been a blessing in disguise for her many times but sometimes it proved to be a curse.

While she is still recovering from the death of her brother, trying to forget her bitter past and move on in her life she gets another shock of her life when her best friend is found dead. Although police terms it as a suicide, Miris is skeptical about it and is determined to find out the reason behind her death. While she was trying to unravel this mystery she can smell her dead boyfriend in her apartment which makes her go bonkers.

But how can she sense the person who is dead 5 years ago? How did her best friend die? Was it a suicide or a murder? What does Miris's ex-boyfriend have to do with all this? Is her past haunting her or is it just her hallucination?

Too many questions and the answers can be found only if you read the book. This book has everything in it like love, romance, heartbreak, abuse, suspense, thrill, action, emotions, eerieness that it will keep you hooked to it till the end. The shifting from past to present is done very smoothly, the characterization is done brilliantly and the plot is very alluring. I was so immersed in the story that I finished it in one sitting. This book has everything that a reader asks for. I loved the eerieness that is maintained throughout the book. One of the best psychological thrillers I have read recently. I recommend this book to everyone who loves to read thrillers.
