When the people you love and trust your life with hurts you the most, it causes a never lasting trauma to that person. The question is do we actually know about our loved ones so much so that we can trust them? The betrayal and the pain can lead a person to go to extent of destroying the lives of others as well as their own.

This story is one such crime thriller which focuses on the life of the protagonist Allison Stone. Allison, a writer by profession is still recovering from the trauma of the murder of her mother and her little brother. She keeps getting nightmares and always thinks someone is following her and want to harm her. Steve Johnson, Allison's cousin now a journalist wants to unfold the mystery behind the murder of his Aunt and cousin.

On the other hand, we see the story of Elizabeth Lawson, a 13-year-old girl who is on the run after murdering her parents. What led her to go to this extent of killing her own parents? And there is also a psycho killer who murdered Allison's mother and brother and now wants to kill Allison as well.

Will Steve be able to solve the mystery?

Will he catch the real culprit?

How is Elizabeth's story connected to Allison's?

Why does the psych killer want to kill Allison?

It's very interesting to see how these parallel stories are interconnected. The author has kept the mystery so well till the end that you cannot keep the book aside until you finish reading. The mystery, suspense, twist and turns throughout the book will keep you flipping the pages and leave you emotional at some times.

The narration of the story is smooth and fast-paced. The language used is simple and lucid. The title is very apt for the story. The author has done a brilliant job with her novel. I really loved it and I recommend to everyone who loves to read psychological thrillers.
