Author: Sayan Chakraborty

Genre: Fiction, Mystery

Ratings: ⭐⭐⭐/5

The story starts with Curator being attacked and the most important manuscript is being stolen from the Beinecke Library, Yale University.

John, the protagonist of the story meets with an accident and is being continuously attacked by someone and his house being robbed again and again but nothing is stolen. His friend Jake comes to meet him and soon finds out something strange about the attack and the robbery and starts digging out information about John's accident. This leads him to a bunch of imbeciles who stole the manuscript and the attacker of John.

Will he catch the culprits red-handed?

Will he save John from another attack?

Will he find out the missing Manuscript?

The story to some point feels like a love betrayal revenge kind of story. I expected a lot of mystery, thrill and more about the lost manuscript as the title suggests but it focuses mainly on John and the attacks on him.

Although it finally leads to the manuscript and although Jake mentioned the missing manuscript to John at one point I felt it wasn't enough to keep the readers interested. There is no investigation or whatsoever of the manuscript until the very end where they plan to catch the culprits red-handed. This for me was a disappointment in the story.

The narration was decently paced and language is simple and lucid but I felt there is need for little more effort on the editing part. And there is a lot of information on marriage and relationships which I felt was unnecessary and I felt the author went a little overboard in promoting his other book inside the story which also was unnecessary.

Overall it was an average read.
